PROFILE: Izzy Van den Heuvel

For artist Izzy Van den Heuvel, having to move from place to place within the past few years, has become a repeating motif in her life; especially after the pandemic in 2020.

However, her consistent daily drawing practice has enabled her to turn the tables from something seemingly temporary into a meaningful endeavor. Her descriptive drawings and meticulous documentation of the interior spaces that she happened to be “passing through”, have become the source of her subjects later, in her print art work. The etchings that she creates in the print studio-within their intimate scale, incorporate the idea of Home, and belonging. She gets to inhabit these places in her own terms, before they disappear in her world of constant move.

This summer she will continue with new work and print editions, expanding on her series “Someplace I Might Call Home”
